It's a frame of odd (that is, without pairs) knitting needles, covered by more sinamay, and sewn together, with added pipe-cleaner and twisted wool insects. No, I'm not too sure why I thought that'd be a good idea either.

Cage Hat Part One
This one I understandably had to photograph slightly differently, so I could get in all the different angles.
